Not a new story, just told differently. Characters were engaging.

An engaging movie with likeable main characters. Keeping the focus on their journey instead of gratuitous kill shots and the usual disaster movie action helps us accept the numerous cliff-hangers and stay tuned. I got over the disbelief of the sudden appearance "comet from another solar system" (nearest solar system is light years away), and went along for the ride for the rest of the movie. The leads played their roles well. Was glad the ending was subdued, and emotionally uplifting. I hope the movie generates some popular support for real space programs in the works (B612 Foundation for example), that struggle for funding, despite their realistic, long-range programs to prevent a catastrophic asteroid strike. Thanks for the screening!

It’s a good movie. The military airfield parts weren’t correct; in reality there would be barricades, trucks, weapons visible, and far more organization when a flight’s chalked even in an emergency situation. There’d be no ins & outs once you’re in. A few slow parts here & there. Overall not 100% realistic, but also overall not a bad movie. It was a good watch and there were a few tear-jerker moments.

Gerard Butler has mastered the formula for a good disaster flick.
