I like to be entertained at the movies. "Silence" is a troubling movie regarding Christianity introduced to poor, hopeless villagers in Japan. I am Christian. However, by the end of the movie it was a futile effort with no positive results for the padres and villagers. The anti-Christian Japanese found multiple ways to torture and kill pro-Christians. Too many lives were taken for what? Sad.

It was a great movie. Lots of character development, with very good well known actors. I just wish it was about an hour shorter. The pace of the movie was too slow for me. Most of the people in the theater just left in "Silence". In previous screenings people would get up and clap if they loved the movie.

i love religious films, and this one was very close to my beliefs. i felt pity for the Christians that were being persecuted and restricted in their worshipping of there God. good work Martin Scorsese. keep em' coming!!

It was ok - very long and just average. I would have preferred if they used the native language in the film and had subtitles- would have seemed more authentic. Adam Drivers performance was sub par - his accent came and went. Andrew Garfield was better, but overall I was not impressed.
