The best World War II movie of the year so far, and Cumberbatch gave a knockout performance. I knew he was a good actor, but I didn't know he could pull off a performance this nuanced. My issue with the film was that I felt the material was rushed so there was less time to focus on the man, the flashbacks were contrived, and everyone besides the Turing character spoke with one-liners.

It is a good movie if you like history and are interested in this story. The acting is good but the story is a little convoluted the way that it is presented. There are some "holes" that are not adequately filled in to keep the story flowing.

I enjoyed the movie while learning a lot of history. I found the skipping around not to bother me as it was well planned and inserted at the proper time. Two stories were running until they merged and defined other parts of the story. I would give it 3.5 stars.

Benedict Cumerbach was, as always superb, putting an excellent nuanced performance. Keira Knightly played, as usual, Keira Knightly but, as usual she played it very well. The film itself was a disappointment. Was it trying to be biop of Alan Turing, a history of WWII code breaking, a condemnation of homophobia, a spy film or something else? Focus was lacking.
