Perhaps the impact is different for a diehard fan, but I found this film coherent and serviceable, yet uninspired and ultimately dull. Captain Kirk ironically complains about his 'episodic' life on the Enterprise in a movie that largely plays out like an episode of a children's cartoon. The plot, the script, the jokes were all played extremely safe and offered nothing inventive or clever.

It really slowed about halfway thru but rallied at the end.
