Great plot & premise. As the audience, I could really feel every drop of Ruben’s pain, stress, & anxiety. Riz’s acting deserves an Oscar!

An honest and authentic story about a musician's transformation away from hearing. His belief in a medical fix and subsequent disappointment in the results connects with a general misguided idea that by spending enough money may solve any problem. I appreciated the contrast between loud, social, extroverted drumming as the probable cause and and silent, interval, solitary, self discovery as cure. The sensitivity of his final departure from his loved one was incredibly well done.

Sound Of Metal was extremely well-made... a small and unassuming film with lots of heart. Riz Ahmed comes off as incredibly guarded and yet vulnerable. You know very little about him as a protagonist, but you're with him emotionally the entire time. It was a really beautiful film that explored a topic that we don't often know much about- hearing loss and how people with disabilities cope.
