With a story centered around a topic like rape, it's pivotal a film not send the wrong message on the matter. The lines are black and white. At the same time, without a challenging set of themes on the matter, one wonders what the point of the film tackling it is. 'Promising Young Woman' is an adept thriller with spikes of comedy, but I came out of it feeling like it had nothing to say other than the established obvious, that rapists and those complicit in the act are bad (some, dare I say it, might even say evil). I was waiting for the rug to be swept under me, but the final punch never came.

Well acted, dark, ultimately she gets her revenge in her last words with Alex's arrest and the texts to Ryan. I didn't think she would take the revenge so far that it would result in her death. So in that sense the suspense was palpable but the results were inevitable. The plot tied up neatly - I think the writers did a good job. But ultimately it's a bit violent and that's why I can't recommend it to others. I may be the wrong demographics, though - perhaps it would appeal to a younger audience.

I couldn't get engaged. Like a rough draft that needed work.

Silly, waste of time. Story is like a horror movie version of a cartoon or fairy tale. Characters were mostly stereotypes. Too long.
