Great filmmaking. Direction, performance and production design are amazing.

7/10. Too digitally fussed over, particularly in its color, to have the elemental muscle that material like this needs. All the crystal clean imagery is at odds with the broad yet alien mythopoetic tone that the best parts of the film have. Far from a bad film, but certainly Eggers’ weakest. \r\rMy phrasing will be reductive but I hope my sentiment is clear when I say I really wish this had cost 10 million dollars instead of 60.
