I enjoyed it but I also was confused with how weak Superman was. He wasn't able to defeat anyone without another's help

You could definitely feel the influence of James Gunn throughout the entire movie. You could also tell what he copied from his experience within the MCU, and the actors he worked with during his time at Marvel. The new Superman actor was fine, but nothing as memorable as past versions. Starting the new movie universe with this character hasn't worked before and I don't expect this to be the launching pad you were hoping for this time.
