I felt the movie was not as good as I expected. It dragged on in storyline, but stopped short at the best part at the end, which I felt should have been developed more.

Remakes usually work when technology changes the scenes on screen. Think the action scenes in King Kong. Though there were a few twists in this version, the scariest part of the whole movie was the truck. Which is unfortunate as I was excited to watch this movie. Rating 4/10

Visually it FELT like the book in terms of the Creeds, Jud, and the woods; but the compassion and the tension of death as an entity/force was not there at all. The changes in the story in terms of not only the events but certain characters: I get why they did it, but still missing key elements to the concepts King is discussing in the book.

The character development was lacking and while I appreciated the attempt to add some new story elements (compared with the original) overall these too felt like they didn't fit well with the main story (the dumb waiter experience, the haunting by the student).
