Hard, serious. Cuts to the bone at some points. Great characters and acting.

Absolutely visceral and honestly, one of the darkest movies I've ever seen. The acting was brilliant and McDonough's playwright-style dialogue really worked here. I liked how it really dug into the characters' motivations and all the minutiae behind it, as well as the exploration of how anger can be that powerful motivator for people. Sam Rockwell's character's redemption was amazing.

Frances McDormand gives a powerful performance. This is a beautiful and at times moving film. Great performance also by Woody Harleson who tackles a tragic police chief. Sweet movie for the holiday season. An Oscar contender for sure!

Such sad subject matter but told as an excellent story. Acting was phenomenal.
