This movie was a lot of fun. Nostalgic feelings were fewer and further between than I assumed going in. Jim Carrey was definitely the highlight and stole every scene he was in. The CGI wasn’t distracting at all, bordering on pretty good. I’m not mad that I woke up early on a Saturday morning to check this out but I don’t think I’d feel the same spending a Saturday evening if that makes sense.

Although Sonic is formulaic and predictable, it's also safe and simple, which makes it a solid and clean setup to the franchise. It does have some strangely adult references, but will be appreciated by longtime fans of the video game and is still fun for kids
