While there are some genuinely great moments, and Winslet is as fantastic as ever, "The Dressmaker" suffers from a few wildly uneven tonal shifts and an unfocused narrative.

Badly written. Scenery was mindful of a Tim Burton movie. Mother figure was a scenery chewer, male love interest for Winslet was more a model than actor. Best performance was probably by policeman, but too typical of homosexual. All in all, not a very good movie, but kudos to film's real dressmaker.

I liked the cast, but the movie could not decide if it was a comedy or drama and took you down too many roads.

Did not enjoy this movie. The acting was very good but did not like the story that much. Doris K
