Growing up in a time when he was alive, but not knowing his story, adds a different perspective. I'm 26, and my sister is almost 40. She briefly told me about her visit to Neverland, and the movie provides context for how it came to be. The movie highlights the hidden sorrows and triumphs of his efforts. Most importantly, noting him as the key to his rise to fame, not the image that Joseph created alone. I wanted to sing my way through the film. And my high school band/colorguard has a great rendition of Thriller that we performed and did at many parades across SoCal, if you wanna see lol.

I really enjoyed the film. The acting was excellent (it's hard to believe that wasn't Michael), and the music is timeless. I'm still tapping my toes and singing the songs. Given that his estate is producing this, I wasn't sure how honest it would be. The early years seemed reasonable based on what I knew, but it was convenient that it ended in 1988 before the difficult years. The end felt disingenuous, but if it had covered what happened after 1988 it wouldn't have been a feel-good movie.
