Funny and fun to see! The grandma was the best!

The story of a young white woman seeking success as a hip-hop artist in an industry dominated by blacks, particularly males. Dysfunctional mother, odd friends and gritty neighborhood where her nickname Dumbo is used like a dagger aimed at her self-esteem. Excellent performances. Some say cheesy – I say colorful. I loved this and would watch it again. And have recommended it to my friends.

A young woman with a seemingly impossible dream doesn't give up. The formula might be familiar but the storyline is new. The acting is mostly top notch and the characters were surprising but real.
