Visually, the movie was amazing. Lots of great CG effects, but not enough practical effects for my own liking. That being said, it looked fantastic and the overall aesthetic was great. I now want to look up the graphic novel/comic series it's based on to see how well it matches up. The acting was something left to be desired, however as a lot of the impactful moments felt a bit forced, and unfortunately, the term "Young and Bad Keanu Reeves" entered my mind several times. The best acting in the entire movie was done by Rihanna, which is a sentence I'd never thought I'd take seriously. She did absolutely phenomenal given the character that she plays. Audio side, it was acceptable. There were times where the audio didn't quite match up to what I was seeing and it didn't hit me the way that I think Sci-Fi audio should. Good use of some music, especially towards the end. Finally, the cinematography was pretty spot on for the movie. I viewed it in 3D, and I wish that wasn't the case. However, from what I was able to focus on, the shots were lining up perfectly. You could tell the right mood at the right time, and the angle of the shots really defined that. From the close ups to the zoom outs, it was good. Ultimately, I'll watch this movie again, maybe in theaters if someone will ask, but it won't be 3D. The 3D didn't add nearly as much as I thought it would, and I'm glad it doesn't.
