Very enjoyable movie. Well cast and well acted. Interesting and a bit longer than I was anticipating but ultimately the longer film length does seem necessary in hindsight. I liked it.

The movie was OK.

I enjoyed Kate Winslet, Judy Davis, and Liam Hemsworth, and I loved the clothes, but the story was so dark and weird that I wasn't sure how I felt about it when I left. During the first half hour, I was ready to walk out. Then I started to enjoy it more. And then Liam Hemsworth jumped in the silo, and I liked it less. It felt like a Wes Anderson film, and I'm not a fan of his movies.

The good: Great performance from Kate and Judy saved the movie. The costume and cinematography was striking. I thought the film/music editing was in some places off, but wasn't too big of a deal for viewers. The bad: The romance between Liam and Kate was just not believable - it really wasn't explained why they fell for each other. The mystery around boy's death was revealed but led nowhere. A sweet revenge was promised but ended up with murder and arson? There are too many of the town folks and their action is bizarre and characters are again underdeveloped.
