I enjoyed Promising Young Woman very much. I thought the actors' performances were great, the subject matter was heavy enough to be strongly felt emotionally, and the twists and turns were dramatic enough to hook the viewer's attention throughout the film while keeping important questions at the forefront of the viewer's mind. This is the kind of film that stays with a viewer beyond the day or night it's watched.

This was a brilliantly executed, highly entertaining, and at times disturbingly dark movie. Fennell did an excellent job of weaving an intricate, layered story, with classic elements of thriller, romance and comedy, a strong emotional core and an exceptional final twist. Where the film fell short, however, was in some of its comedic moments. While I understand the tone Fennell was aiming for, her comedic treatment of problems endemic to society today served at times to lesson the seriousness of not only the characters but the problems as well, confusing the core theme and message of the movie.
