The movie over simplified adolescent issues like drugs, alcohol, sex and homosexuality. Parents are way too cool with the only roll of loving their kids unconditionally, there is no guidance or correction when Simon arrived drunk from a party. This movie should not be PG-13, nor I wouldn’t take my kids to watch it.

Although it was a good story it was very far fetched to believe parents, teacher, vice principals, and high schooler's acted the way they did. A vice principal talking to students about his Tinder date....really??? And when he told his parents his father just walks away and his mother only says "I love you" and that was it??? Was more of a comedy than a "coming out" movie.

I liked the majority of the film. Regrettably, the ending scenes of the movie trivialized the true turmoil faced by someone facing the reality that their gender preference is not "mainstream". It turned Simon and his soulmate Blue into heroes that everyone cheers for and celebrates. That makes for a cute Hollywood feel-good ending but caused the film to loose all credibility to me.
