Terrible adaptation. It fell into unnecessary, problematic tropes and completely destroyed the heart of the book.

Pandered to an audience with the privilege to indulge in sexuality. Numerous class-exclusion thresholds were uncomfortable (eg the theater teacher exclaiming she is "not paid enough for this" & the main character narrating "anyone with a halfway decent data plan" having access to internet information). The racial joke in the trailer was insensitive. The principal undermined their own allyship

Great cast, acting was superb, but the story was not original. It was a typical high school film that will inspire teens to “come out” for every little thing.
