Never Let Go is a well shot, well-acted, and well directed film but, well it’s just that. It lacks the X Factor to make it great. A solid good film all around. I did very much enjoy the "both of these things can be true at the same time" message of the film. The writing is a bit hand-holdy, not enough to enrage me like Late Night with the Devil. It does a lot of "OoOoOoh this thing is so ambiguous and mysterious, just kidding we're going to explain exactly what is happening."

It’s a film where all the filmmaking, acting, and technical aspects are really well done, but has a lot of head scratching ideas and concepts. I’ll say the crux of the film is whether or not what is happening due to ‘mental illness’ or evil possession

It's fine but nothing special. Meant to make us question if they're insane from starvation hallicinations,, schizophrenia, or if they're right all along with no direct answer as the photo at the end confirms a monster did physically exist. It's a lot like bird box.
