would have benefitted from some broader historical context interspersed between the interviews. what were the post-war years like? was there ever a national reckoning or were individuals left to wrestle with the aftermath in their own minds and consciences?

I would recommend, with reservations. The history lesson is much appreciated, and needs to be shared. The opinion of the last man interviewed is horrifying.
