Premise is depressing and no real character development.

The movie was engaging enough to withstand its runtime. It was well-made. I enjoyed the performances. But it felt like it was trying to make excuses for letting the main character of the hook with certain characters and subplots not serving any more purpose than that. The movie is most effective when it plays on people's anxieties about COVID, but this really only covers the first five minutes or so of the story. I also still find myself questioning if it was really necessary to make it about COVID. It could have been about a fake virus. It would've probably still close to home, but why shove that in the audience's face? Regardless, it's all the more frustrating because one can see shades of how much better it could have been.

It has the makings of a good movie, but it didn't make it. Id still recommend it.
