I enjoyed it but the singing could be better

I really enjoyed the movie but knowing the play musical so well, I didn’t enjoy all of the changes made. I didn’t like any of the changes made to the songs and the absence of “Everything I Know”. I liked how much more story was added and how it was put in today’s world with today’s problems but I also wish it had stayed a little closer to the original book.

The source material is so rich, joyful, original, and infectious that it's hard not to have some fun with this theatrical adaptation.\r\rThe movie is around 30 minutes too long -- they cut a couple of great songs at the expense of unnecessary songs, and altered some key plot details that compromised the pacing and motivation in the story. Great representation but not a home run at all.
