I liked it.

We really enjoyed the series so we’re looking forward to the movie. We watched the last episode of the series the night before, so were back in Jack’s world and ready. But turns out we weren’t! The series was a slow build, with lots of details and insights - the movie took every action sequence of the four years and flung us along on a breakneck journey to resolve decades of history in 90 minutes. Having a relationship with the characters, we care what happens to them, so putting them in nearly constant peril was exhausting - in a good way.

A fun Jack Ryan movie. Good action scenes, enjoyable characters, if you like the TV show, you'll enjoy the movies. With a shorter format (1.5 hours instead of a season) you get less character ark and development, but that's no knock on the film. Michael Kelly does a great job reprising his role as Mike November, and Sienna Miller is good as an MI6 agent. The plot is a little on the formulaic side, but it's a very enjoyable movie.

It was a well paced action movie with just the right amount of intrigue and suspense. The characters are likable.
