Excellent performance by Helen Mirren! Movie itself was sentimental--too much emotion expended over parts that did not need the emotion! Also false to the difference between generations: the Mirren character would never have sworn nor become that friendly with the Randy character.

3 Stars***Convincing performance by Helen Mirren as we would expect. Interesting weaving of story lines with flashbacks to her youth involving the Nazi invasion of Austria.The script and story lines could have been better. this movie is good, but could have been great.Ryan Reynolds was adequate but lacked intensity in his role. Katie Holmes was nearly non-existent.

Very entertaining with a compelling story, & worth seeing, but not a great film due to the attempt to appeal to the masses through over simplification of the facts & some trivial dialogue.

A little slow at points, but still a very enjoyable movie, especially if you don't know the actual story. It made me want to know more and I was surprised to find out that the movie follows the actual accounts fairly accurately.
