I went into the movie without reading the book first, so I was expecting a standard post-apocalyptic movie. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was not. It's not a fast-paced, shoot-'em-up movie, but one that is slow and steady...exploring the characters, their relationships and their struggles and triumphs. This is a movie I will watch a couple more times, to truly absorb the subtle nuances.

It was awesome .... comedy with horror !!

Set somewhere in the deep woods east of Boston, two sisters adopt a hunter-gatherer existence after the power grid goes out and electrical power never comes back on. In this seemingly post-apocalyptic world - where staples like food and gas are no longer available - an air of danger permeates. One senses the possibility of a total breakdown of public order as looting and criminality go unchecked.

It was really well done. It kept you wondering about everything going on. Spectacular movie!
