I am glad that someone has finally told this story. It needed to be told. The film brought the awful truth forward. Sadly this tale could probably be told many times over and is still ongoing for so many. Well done.

I started off thinking it was anti-American propaganda, but what changed my mind was the footage of the real Mohammdou Slahi. Once I saw the real man and his demeanor and nature I knew his story was true and that he'd been mistreated by the US government. I ended up really liking the man and the story, even though the story put America in a terrible light.

It's almost impossible to watch. I wanted to answer both yes and no to recommendation because that would be true. But I'm so glad it's been made. It's a good film, well acted and directed. But harrowing, and disgusting in it's truth about the failures of the USA. I'm so glad The Mauritanian is out of US hands finally, safe, free. I am so ashamed of my country. I'm so ashamed of our betrayal of our most sacred values. Thank god for Americans like Nancy and Teri and the rare, rare patriots like Stu Couch, who stick by their principals, the oath they've taken to serve the constitution, despite the weight of the military and government. My government! I wish the likes of Rumsfeld, and Bush would have been held accountable. If they had been, maybe we wouldn't have had a Donald Trump, who also needs to be held accountable.
