Silence is a beautifully shot and powerful movie, yet the ending was in many ways unsatisfying.

Very well done, a little slow, tells how flawed we are as humans. Sad our Faith couldn't be stronger. Overall very good. I feel quite strongly that non-Christians would view it differently.

The adapted novel at the heart of the film is an inherently interesting story, representing a unique phenomenon from world history. The script took its time developing nuanced, complicated and conflicted characters of which the leads ably portrayed. Some clinical direction undercuts the power of its most emotional scenes but it ultimately leaves you with much to ponder.
