I thought this was a really good movie. I had no idea this happened. It was thought-provoking.

Compelling story of the U.S.'s willingness to bend its constitutional principles in the light of September 11. Tahar Rahim should receive a nomination for his nuanced and sympathetic performance.

A compelling drama done particularly well, with a bravado performance by Jodi Foster and an award-worthy performance by Tahar Rahim. The telling of this tale is timely, while the addition of actual footage of Mohamedou Ould Salahi at the close was a nice touch. There are a few misses - Benedict Cumberbatch cast as the government's chief prosecutor, for instance, with both an awkward quasi-southern accent and an equally awkward manner, and the doe-eyed associate played by Shailene Diann Woodley is almost entirely forgettable - but overall, a well-executed take on a fractured post-9/11 worldscape.

Incredible filmmaking. Very intense but moving. A horror story that needs to be told and talked about so we can learn to do better.
