Thoroughly enjoyed in the heights. Wonderful casts, love that the Abuela was the same person from Broadway. One criticism I would give is that the loss of Abuela was more impactful on Broadway compared to the movie.

I do not like musicals usually and was so so on Hamilton so I was skeptical in the beginning, especially with some similar Hamilton vibes early on, but it really got good as it warmed up. This movie definitely drags a little in the last 45 but is mostly pretty free-flowing. I don't know if it was my theater, but way too many times the audio or music overshadowed the speaking or lyrics way too much

The screenplay does a great job of taking us from the stage. The special effects for the dance on the fire escape was beautiful. The story is about resilience and no matter what changes, community is stronger, culture matters and the memory of what was continues to live on in the hearts of a community grappling with changing world.

Very well done! A few awkward stage to screen transitions but overall, well done.
