I hated the ending so much it colored my opinion of the rest of the film. The father doesn't deserve any sympathy and the sons' arc shouldn't be forgiving him, which he doesn't deserve, but rather coming together over the shared trauma of a terrible father. I was really enjoying the movie until the video inside Eloise was shown. I had held out hope that there was a reasonable explanation for the father to have never come back to his son, but there was none. He could have done any number of things, like, oh I don't know, get on a plane and go see him. Sappy music for a worthless character.

I didn't think the comedy aspect was funny enough, but the drama aspect of the film wasn't enough to carry the weigh of the entire film alone.
