While I enjoyed the movie--it is visually stunning, beautifully acted (Demian Bichir is incredible and Robin Wright is great in it), and a fantastic directing debut from Robin Wright--I wish it had not fallen into the "white woman knows nothing and goes to live in the woods and has to be rescued by People of Color" trope. Apart from that, it was very good and emotionally intense in a way that was not off-putting, but drew the audience in.

Not my kind of movie but it has it's merits. Was ready to give up several times but made it through to the end. Makes a bold statement.

Although "Nomadland" has garnered nearly all the critical acclaim -- and award nominations -- 2021's second -- and best -- film about a woman who chooses to live in near-isolation following a tragic loss is "Land".

It's a sweet story of a woman stripping away her material belongings to live off the land after experiencing a tragic loss. Unfortunately, it is nothing unique or original. It reminds me of the movie INTO THE WILD, and it barely offers the same emotion weight that movie provided. The performances were good, and Robin Wright does an admirable job directing it. I think it is a movie for somebody like my parents, but nothing to strongly advocate.
