This film was exciting and theatrical, as one might it expect for it being based off of a stage production. Some themes were cheesy, but this can allow a very accessible movie for all ages It was surely hit close to home for many immigrants or children of immigrants in America, and is an engaging experience inside of vibrant Latino culture that is rarely so focused upon for films set in New York.

Wonderfully captures the joy, excitement, and intensity of a good musical experience while never letting go of the fantastical elements it’s capable of possessing. Great cast, music, and story. The editing is a little wonky and awkward and some story elements don’t hit as much as I’d hoped for, but it’s otherwise a great adaptation and a good example of movie musicals going forward.

It was fantastic!!

It was nice film adaption of a great musical. My only qualm with it, is that some of the plot and elements of the musical were taken out of the film. I understand that it had to be cut down for the sake of being a movie, but some of the plot points would have been great to see. It would've made it feel more complete. But bravo, it was still a good film. The dancing was freaking fantastic!
