Very Good

Jackie Chan delivers a phenomenal performance in this nicely fleshed out adaption of the novel The Chinaman. Despite being known as an actor usually featured in more light-hearted films such as Rush Hour and Drunken Master, Chan is able to tear your heart out in the opening moments of the movie as it lays a base for his actions throughout the rest of the film. From here, we see his acting versatility as he goes from a completely unassuming and quiet, but persistent man suffering from loss to one set on taking justice into his own hands. Chan's opposite, Pierce Brosnan, serves as an intriguing soldier-turned-politician character that makes viewers question if his agenda actually serves the good or bad side of the law. The tension between the two men keeps the pace of the movie running with both sides looking for the same answers while indirectly opposing each other. Overall, the dynamic performance and direction in The Foreigner makes it a winner in my book. That, and kudos to Jackie for still being able do his own stunts!
