It's a classic little guy vs. power guy story

I enjoyed the movie because I was entertained by the plot and the music. The beginning introduced the audience to the characters, but dragged out too much. The middle adequately built the storyline, and allowed the audience to develop feelings towards the characters. There was a ‘feel good ending’ but I would have like to know how Rick received the money and if Danny showed remorse and publicly apologized.

I suspect that the drunk driving scene was reshot because it doesn't make a lot of sense. In general it was shy about Paul Rudd's character destroying his life and then found him blameless for doing so. The cynicism and darkness was sort of muted until the end. I also feel that the contrast between the two singers was reduced because Rudd only sang it in his own voice in private and when performing had a very boy-band pop sound that made it difficult to draw contrast between the leads which is sort of the entire game. The whole concept is pop versus rock.
