Outstanding adaptation of a great book. I read the book about 10 years ago and parts of it really stuck with me. I remember the way the violence, danger and brutality of the whaling profession were described and the horrors the crew of the Essex were forced to endure to try to survive, unaware of the permanent emotional scars that would be left and the toll the ordeal would take on the survivors. The film conveyed all of that in a way that you’ll think about the terror of what they experienced for weeks to come. The CG was great and the 3D is a must. Can’t wait to go see it again.

Rivoting! An excellent telling of the story that inspired the book. If Chris Hemsworth does not receive and award or at least a nomination for his performance then something is seriously wrong!

realistic, engaging, dramatic

The plot came across beautifully. The movie entrances you. You will find yourself gasping as the story unfolds. The story causes you to reflect on the situation should you have been in the same. I definitely recommend to see this film.
