A middle of the road effort with hopes of attracting the Kong Skull Island, Mummy, and Wonder Woman crowds. Watching Vikander figure out what tomb raiding is as she goes along is the movie's greatest strength.Rampage and Ready Player One trailers were a bit of brilliant pre-show programming.

I would recommend this film to my friends and others, however, with conditions. I would urge them to go during matinee hours and to expect an average movie. Tomb Raider wasn't awful by any means but it wasn't exciting at any point and seemed like a feeble attempt to reboot a franchise that was better left playing on Saturdays on FX.

Vikander was miscast in an action movie with little to offer fans of the genre.

A poor attempt at telling a story about the legendary badass Lara Croft. The action was weak. Characters add little charm and were mostly set pieces to drive the plot forward. Each cliffhanger set piece in the film (and there are far too many) were overly dramatic and prolonged with no really danger or stakes for the heroine. Ultimately it falls flat and fails to do what it’s supossed to do.
