Love that it's a true story. War scenes were very realistic and may be hard for some people to watch.

Great movie about a man who did not let others change his beliefs. Several people said they could not watch some scenes, but everyone should think about the fact that soldiers have no choice in what they see!

A gruesome, realistic portrait of heroism. I appreciated the toning down of the challenges faced by Private Doss prior to his employment (other filmmakers would have kept hammering that theme for an hour), but wished the religious themes had been toned down just a bit. The overt imagery of Doss being lowered from the ridge was almost eye-roll inducing. Doesn't break new ground, but is solid.

I personally don't like to watch war movies as they are just too real. However, I wanted to see this one because Desmond Doss was born and raised near my hometown. I have to say the war scenes were about as real as it gets and especially intense, but it is a story that should be told. I enjoyed the well told story even with the casualties and sacrifices that are all too real in these movies.
