Please don't get me wrong, it was a good movie. It wasn't a great movie.I can't fault any of the actors as they were marvelous.I found the story to be slow getting going, way too many ultra-closeups on the faces, and choppy in some places. I would recommend to someone who loved the story A Christmas Carol, but perhaps not as a Saturday night movie.

I was a slow moving movie - it didn't really delve into Charles Dickens character - the flash backs of his life were not enough - and the little bits of his family (his parents and sister) were not enough to help develop his character. It almost felt like I was watching the Christmas Carol instead of the story of how it was written. The acting, scenery and costumes were awesome though.

It was entertaining however I did not feel it had lots of depth. Nothing we did not already know about writers.

Cute Christmas story but a little slow. Would recommend someone rent to watch at home with hit chocolate but wouldn't spend the money on a night out at the theater.
