Charming. Cringey. Confusing. The storyline was a bit messy and all of the characters were extremely based but Julia Roberts is definitely taking home that Actress of the Year Oscar and I will cheer when it happens. Guadagnino's weakest overall

It was an overall positive experience that tackled issues with depth, layers, and emotion. However, a familiar story and an attempt to solve all of the major issues in the world deflated the purpose of the movie in general. Guadagnino's style seemed shockingly absent; this movie felt like it could have been made by anyone, with the exception of a few small character quirks sprinkled throughout. It is overstuffed, overcomplicated, and has story and pacing issues; however, the acting, thematic richness, realistic dialogue, and tether to modern-day problems keeps it afloat for the most part.

The initial premise of the film was promising, providing an nuanced and unique take on the realm of academia through the lens of various identities. However, as the movie progressed, I believe it evolved into something that solely became disorienting. It became ambitious at the cost of a solid plot, trying to be something by compromising what I thought to be the crux of the movie. However, I do think the cinematography and artistry was a highlight for the film.
