Wasn't scary, acting not great and more funny than anything.

Not a great horror movie but slightly original content and obviously trying to start a new franchise. Acting and direction was definitely sub-par and the editing was choppy, but the main problem were gigantic holes in the storyline. Had any of these characters actually talked to each other in the first act, there wouldn't have been any second or third act because they would have figured out what was actually going on much faster. So kind of entertaining and fun to watch, a few good scares, but not anything special.

Low budget movie. Bad acting and bad plot.

There are a few seemingly unintentional funny moments in this horror film. I'm not sure if this was supposed to be a dark comedy, but even if it was, it didn't do too well in that aspect either. The last good dark comedy I watched at the theater was M. Knight's 'The Visit' and it was a perfect blend of creepiness and humor. 'The Bye Bye Man' barely had either of the two elements. I wouldn't watch this movie on purpose ever again.
