This movie was visually striking. Great score by Cliff Martinez. However, I'm left scratching my head trying to figure out what the filmmakers intended to convey. Or whether there was any point at all to the story (or lackthereof). This was definitely style over content filmmaking. It goes into some really weird places, especially in the last half. But I couldn't help thinking that Refn was trolling us.

Style over substance.

More convoluted than "artsy." I assume the intent was to showcase the intense jealousy of the modeling industry and how beauty is fleeting...but the canabilism, self mutilation and neceophilia were a strange and confusing part of the movie that Disney flow from the beginning of the film. The start of the film seemed promising, Elle Fanning was captivating and wanted more of her story.

Giving this movie one star is generous at best. I can't begin to describe how bad this film was.Poor acting, poor dialogue (when there was any) - long scenes of images flashing on the screen to electronic music left you scratching your head wondering what's going on. No desinerable plot to speak of. For what was supposed to be a vampire movie, it sorely lacked any actual vampires.
