Very good movie overall. My only concern is the part towards the end where one soldier says "he even sent down 2 japs, of course, they didn't make it" the implication being that someone had intentionally killed the wounded Japanese soldiers. Aside from being a war crime, the comment is not really relevant to the heroism displayed by PVT Doss, and detracts from the heroic theme of the movie.

It was based on an interesting true story which I found absolutely absorbing. The movie was war as it is but still unnerving and gory,

This film was a very emotional and moving experience for me. My father was an Air Force pilot stationed in Saipan during World War II, so he told me all about his experiences flying small airplanes in the Pacific. He said before they occupied Saipan, the marines came through to remove all Japanese soldiers. This film realistically portrays the courage and convictions of one very special man.
