My son has seen the first three installments in the Hotel Transylvania series and loved them all, but lost interest in this one about halfway through. While it was colorful, fun, and had an interesting storyline, it definitely targets very young children, and doesn't offer much in the way of adult sub context that so many recent animated movies have embraced. However, movie night with your four year old will probably be a hit.

As a reviewer who enjoyed the previous three series, I found this one less interesting. The plot was quite predictable and the jokes were only chuckle-level. I did not feel amazed by or involved in the story this time.

It just seems like the same exact story they've already done a bunch of times in this series. I can never figure out why Mavis even likes her husband. He's so dumb and annoying. I always agree with Dracula, the guy SHOULDN'T be in charge of anything. Plus I always feel like Mavis gets sidelined in stories that should be about her. Like jeez, this whole movie was about her inheritance and it still ended up mostly being about two guys' feelings.\r\rGorgeous animation, but the writing just felt like a very boring retread. Felt like a direct-to-video movie. Little kids might like it, though.
