Scary movie well acted by Ethan Hawke

Excellent movie. Many of the themes such as family, faith, and belief are well executed. One of the best movies of the year so far.

It is less of a horror movie and more of a thriller with a horrifying situation and antagonist. That being said, with the winning combination of Derrickson at the helm, Hawke behind the mask, and bolstered by stupendous child actors, this 70s narrative was unsettling and captivating. The supernatural elements fit much better than in Sinister, and although the movie wasn't scary it was effective.
