I really enjoyed this. It was beautifully done. I liked how it handled both Deaf and hearing culture. Seeing how Ruby grew as a singer and related to her family was really something. My favorite part was her audition scene, especially when she started signing, as well as singing, the song. But I would have liked to known how her family handled the hearing-person requirement on the boat.

I really enjoyed this story from the POV of the hearing family member. The parts without sound helped to place me in the mind of her family members but watching her father "listen" to her was most accurate. My best friend's dad is deaf. I wish they'd developed the dad's POV a bit more but I know my lens is unique.:)
