An epic true tale of faith has met its match in a filmmaker for whom fire and brimstone are merely a prelude, and the power and singularity of his vision on screen cannot be denied. Director Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge is a tough mudder of an action movie, hearkening to the actor-turned-director's own roots in Peter Weir's WWI classic Gallipoli and imprinted with a world-weary POV applied to WWII.

This was a very powerful story that needed to be told. A moving tale about a man who stood by his values and virtues leading to persecution and ridicule, only to be one of the most valiant hero's on the field. A lesson to be learned by his courage on and off the battlefield. Kudos to Mel Gibson's return with one of the greatest military stories never told.

I never knew the story of Hacksaw Ridge until I saw this movie! It's an amazing portrayal of one man's ability to be true to himself and the people he is with in a time of war n strife! An American hero!

Not typically a "war movie" fan, but this had a great story behind it. I enjoyed it, left in a little "shell shock" from all the shooting, etc. Story was a feel good story, though, enjoyed it.
