This movie was interesting and had very good cinematography. The story line was complex and left room for individual interpretation. It was very long but I suppose necessary n order to develop the different characters. Being a born again Christian kind of hard to swallow ending. I never read the book therefore knew nothing beforehand on story.

There is much suffering depicted in this film, and 2 1/2 hours of it will test most viewers.The Japanese gov'ts. dedication to wiping out Christianity in the 17th century, and the journey of two Portuguese among its followers, in search of a pioneering missionary, is a compelling storyline
