A lovely but somewhat formulaic film with an uplifting message and, obviously, awesome soundtrack. In short, a very well executed crowd pleaser.

Very moving story of cultural differences and one generations’ struggles to want to just fit in

This was a phenomenal film!! The actors were stellar and the editing was so creative with the song lyrics appearing. Particularly the rain montage when Javed is outside singing his first Bruce song. Also, the unexpected musical numbers fit right in. It's so good to see a film about and by people of colour. There are audiences out there for these stories. Please keep giving them a platform!!

It was an amazing coming of age within the outside socio-economic downfall of the 80s. That no matter what our background & ethnicity, music can speak to us all & inspire.
