I was entertained for the entire movie, it was beautifully put together, and I loved it.

I think Fennell succeeded in creating her own interpretation of the source material. That being said, avid fans of the novel may not be pleased with the movie. If it is viewed as a separate entity and not held to the same standards as the book, it’ll be appreciated more. The marketing made it seem like the perfect Valentine’s Day movie, and although it was a true romance, it left me feeling terribly sad in the end, which I feel is not what the audience will be expecting. If I watched this on Valentine’s Day, the tragedy would strike me more than the romance.

The movie is quite different from the book, but overall, it’s a strong and well-made film. The visuals are incredible. I wish the director would name it something different and simply mention that it’s inspired by the book instead.
